Emperor Hirohito
Hirohito was Emperor of Japan during World War 2. After the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, he was the one who forced the surrender of Japan, against the will of many military commanders. He would go on to rule as a figurehead from the end of WW2 to his death in 1989, during which time Japan would establish itself as an ally of the U.S. and a leader in the world's economy.
