Familiarization: Find the following countries on the maps provided and list their relative location (location in relation to other countries, landmarks, oceans). Also identify if they are Axis or Allies. Ex: Canada is located north of the U.S. and fought for the Allies.
Analysis: What happened between Sept 1939 and 1942 to make the map of Axis territories look this way? Use this timeline of WWII to help you. Think about pacts that created alliances and major invasions (don't forget pre-war pacts and territories acquired through means other than war). You don't need to put down every event on the timeline. Just describe in general what made the map look this way.
